Three girls from Mathura Archery Academy were selected in the archery team of Uttar Pradesh for the 37th National Games to be held in Goa.
In the regional archery competition held in Baghpat, Indian round and compound round teams were to be selected to participate in the National Games. The best archers of Uttar Pradesh from all over the state participated in these bows. In this selection competition, Varenya Rana and Nishtha Gupta in the compound bow category of Mathura Archery Academy and Yagnika Arya in the Indian round bow category performed well and got a place in the four-member team of the state. Yogendra Singh Rana, archery instructor and secretary of District Archery Association, Mathura, said that Varenya Rana, 15, and Nishtha Gupta, 12, had participated as the youngest participants in this senior category competition and both had performed well. The senior team made the name of Mathura proud by making its place in the compound team of the Senior National Games. Thus, in the 16-member archery team of Uttar Pradesh, 3 archers were selected from Mathura Archery Academy. On this occasion, District Archery Association President Shri Rambabu Sharma, Gyanendra Singh Rana, Shyam Sundar Upadhyay, Sunil Tarkar etc. officials of Archery Association expressed happiness and members of Uttar Pradesh Archery Team leaving for Goa on October 28, Mathura Archery Academy.
