Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the logo, anthem, mascot (mascot) and jersey of the Khelo India University Games starting from May 25 in four cities of Uttar Pradesh. In a program organized at the Indira Gandhi Foundation, Union Minister Anurag Thakur praised the work of promoting sports in the state. The Union Minister said that the way the Yogi Adityanath government is increasing sports facilities, he is confident that UP will be the most medal-giving state in the future. UP will make a big contribution in making the country a sports superpower. He said that out of thousand Khelo India centers in the country, 950 have been approved. By August 15, 2023, one Khelo India center will be ready in all the districts of UP. For 5 years, the central government has allocated Rs 3200 crore for Khelo India. are given.
Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav said that players are being encouraged by implementing the new sports policy in the state from May 25 to 4 in Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Gautam Budh Nagar. The third Khelo India University Games will be organized till June 3. Shooting will be held in Delhi, in total 21 competitions, 4705 players from 200 universities across the country will participate. The mascot ‘Jeetu’ will fill the players with the spirit of victory.
The mascot of the Khelo India University Games has been named ‘Jitu’. This is Uttar Pradesh’s state animal ‘Barasingha’, it was displayed by hockey players Vandana Katariya and Danish Mujtaba, basketball player Vishesh Raghuvanshi and athlete Anu Rani. During this, the state bird of UP Saras was also mentioned, the one who flies long, the same arrow on the top of the spice and the policy flute of Lord Shri Krishna on it, the peacock feather which gives the message of peace even in the struggle, the same waving on the holy temples. The flag depicts the terrorist movement, it was specially displayed by Ashrit Singh, hockey player, Lalit Upadhyay, wrestling player, judo player, Vijay Kumar Yadav, on the other hand, the logo is the image of new India and new Uttar Pradesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the perception towards sports and players.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said in the program that Khelo India University Games will prove to be a milestone in encouraging the youth towards sports. He said that a decade ago people’s perception towards sports and sportspersons was not good. People used to consider sports as a waste of time, but after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi worked to change this perception. Now people are encouraging their children to play. We do. He said that there are 85,000 youth and women Mangal Dals in the state and out of these 65,000 have been given sports kits, the remaining 20,000 Mangal Dals will also be given these sports kits by next year.
